Zaroon vocalist Raghav shares his thoughts on the indie music scene

The Artiste Feat. Raghav – Zaroon | Episode 2

They are just three years old on the music scene. But Zaroon are already playing almost 15 shows in a good month. For Raghav, the lead vocalist of Zaroon, that spells optimism.

‘Considering that it’s been three years, it’s been really good. We do a mix of genres, Bollywood, Sufi, Punjabi. People are appreciating us, viewership has been going up. But the number of shows we do in a month keeps changing. Sometimes there are just three or four shows.’

Raghav feels that when one starts in the industry, it is very difficult to get paid work. ‘My first two or three shows were free. But that is something you have to do to build up your profile.I think it would not be possible for anyone to get paid for their very first show!’

The vocalist has many stories to tell about the kind of audiences he’s faced. He relates a funny incident. ‘We were playing a show where the audience were quite drunk. And there was a lot of pushing and shoving. And somehow, I fell off the stage and a few of these drunk guys fell on me!’

Raghav is also working on some original music with his band Zaroon. He expects that these will be out soon.
