For all the book lovers out there, the Delhi Book Fair is like a carnival, held every year at Pragati Maidan. This year, apart from leading authors and their books, the interesting thing to look for is the Publications Division’s stall. From folk fables to historic Gandhian Literature, this 2016 edition is bringing an astonishing collection of books.
Books are the best way to relish and disseminate information and knowledge. From a wide range of fiction and non-fiction, to academic books and children’s literature, there’s a lot for everyone to explore. The New Delhi World Book Fair is India‘s oldest book fair. The first edition was held from March 18 to April 4, 1972 on about 6790 sq. mts. of area with 200 participants. It was inaugurated by V. V. Giri, then President of India.
You can catch up with Publications Division’s stall at Hall No. 11, Stall Nos. 11-20B. There is a wide range of books being exhibited – from medieval, to modern India, and from freedom struggle movements to Digital India. Being a leading publishing house of India, it publishes books in Hindi, English and other regional languages.
The Division has published 7,600 titles till date on a range of subjects, including arts, culture, national heritage, biographies of national leaders, science, flora and fauna and children’s literature. It’s most significant work is a 100-volume set of the collected works of Mahatma Gandhi as well as individual volumes of his work. The rare books of high archival value published by them are now even available as convenient e-books so that one can access them anywhere.
The Book Fair will see not just hard copies of books, but the e-books as well, along with a wide range of stationery.
