The First Dispatch – With Love, From Leeds

Leeds

Sitting in a corner of my classroom at a Delhi government school, I often used to daydream. I have this weird fascination with windows, maybe because they are a way for light to enter our lives. Often afraid of the dark, I would sit quietly looking at the window for hours like a monk and would indulge in my favourite activity–daydreaming.

As a child, you don’t know where will you end up. But you always have this intuition that something good awaits you; it keeps you sane and motivated. I was never the studious kind, but always found my way to pass exams with good marks. Most importantly, I am a believer in destiny. I always stand by the philosophy that whatever happens in life, happens for good. And there’s a path carved out for you that will eventually take you on your life’s destined route.

My apartment in Leeds, UK

I am writing this blog from Leeds in England, sitting on my couch in my tiny apartment looking out the window, hearing the sound of traffic, mostly the sound of speeding cars passing by. The noise which feels like the symphonies of Mozart playing in the background are helping me frame the sentences to articulate my emotions for you all.

We (my wife Prakriti and I) moved to Leeds two weeks back for my wife’s Master’s degree, whom I met at IIMC (Indian Institute of Mass Communication) Delhi, a golden chapter of my life. I will write about my campus days in detail some other time. The irony is such that she’s taking one of her lectures online, for which we have traveled more than 6000 km to the other side of the planet!

Just kidding! That was an exaggeration. She has only this class online, and I am pretty sure it is a one-time thing. (Maybe the rain has discouraged her professor!) She will be going to college in the afternoon. I spend my days hunting for jobs, editing some videos for my YouTube, and talking to family and friends back home.

Signing off for today and will see you tomorrow. Cheers, as they say here in Leeds, England!

Spread the love
