Brace yourself! The much-awaited times literarature festival is here

The fourth edition of the Times Literature Festival Delhi is here. And a box full of wonders is waiting to get unlocked. The festival has previously hosted authors, thinkers, and speakers from across the world. And this year it is going to be even bigger, with myriad of activities and sessions lined up. Here is all that you can look forward to this weekend.

Meet your favourite authors

Meghna Gulzar, Shashi Tharoor, Udayan Mukherjee, Ravinder Singh, Anita Nair, Anuja Chauhan, Ziya Us Salam, Sean O’Reilly, Stephen Alter, Shweta Bachchan—the festival is going to have a galaxy of well known literary stars. In focus will be topics like the #MeToo movement, Dalit literature, conflict, migration, exile, and mental health.

Mythlopedia

Do you get a thrill from dissecting myths and legends? If yes, then you are in for a great treat. Ashwin Sanghi, Amish Tripathi, Aditya Iyengar, and Anand Neelakantan are going to be at the Times Literature Festival talking about heroes and anti-heroes and relevance of mythology in contemporary times.

Crime and conspiracy

Clare Mackintosh, the award-winning author of I Let You Go, will discuss the art of cliffhanger narratives. Kjell Ola Dahl, Vikramaditya Motwane, and Vish Dhamija will be talking about thrillers and noir.

Rejoice, My Children

Archana Garodia and Shruti Garodia, authors of the bestselling The History of India for Children, will entertain children by telling quirky tales about animals in Indian history. There will be painting and cartooning sessions as well. Rahul Kansal will conduct a storytelling and enactment workshop with children.

For the love of Hindi

Sessions with Kausar Munir, Prasoon Joshi, Mnoj Muntashir on Delhi’s poets of the Mughal-era and Hindi cinema are also on the list. Mridula Garg, Geetanjali Shree, and Mamta Kalia will talk about what keeps the ink flowing for them.

The show must go on

You can also enjoy Dastangoi performances by Fauzia Dastango and Raghav Mehta, India’s youngest Dastango, enactment of a Manipuri folktale in Hindustani, and Ghalib poetry recitation by Vijai Vardhan and Danish Iqbal.

Apart from these, you can take part in live doodling session and Book Exchange programme, where you can bring a book you own and in return, take back another. So, all the bibliophiles out there; book your dates for a weekend filled with books, literature, and beyond. Entry is free.
