Jailed conman Sukesh Chandrashekhar, who appeared today at Delhi’s Patiala House Court in connection with the Rs 200 crore money laundering case, has alleged that he gave Rs 60 crores to the ruling Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) in the national capital.

According to his lawyer advocate Anant Malik, the conman made the allegations in front of a high-powered committee that has recommended a probe into his allegations.

“Today Sukesh Chandrashekhar alleged that he gave Rs 60 crores to AAP. A high-powered committee took his statement and the committee has given its recommendations and held that allegations are serious and a probe should be done,” news agency ANI quoted advocate Malik as saying.

Chandrashekhar is currently lodged in Delhi’s Mandoli jail for allegedly extorting money from high-profile people and celebrities. Earlier, he was lodged in Tihar jail but was later shifted after his repeated requests to change his jail citing death threats.

Last month, the conman has alleged that AAP national convener and Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal asked him to collect Rs 500 crore for the party and Delhi minister Satyender Jain threatened him, a charge dismissed by the ruling party.

In a ‘letter’ addressed to the media, Chandrashekhar had also claimed that he gave more than Rs 50 crore to AAP which promised to nominate him to Rajya Sabha and after that Kejriwal attended a dinner party with Jain hosted by Chandrashekhar in 2016.

Earlier in a letter to Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena, Chandrashekhar had alleged that Jain extorted Rs 10 crore in 2019 for his “safety” in the prison.
